Syrian Arab Republic - Emergency Mobility Tracking and Cross Border Monitoring Situation Update - Round 23 (05 October 2026)

Syrian Arab Republic - Emergency Mobility Tracking and Cross Border Monitoring Situation Update - Round 23 (05 October 2026)

Countries: Syrian Arab Republic, Lebanon Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached file. OVERVIEW Cross-border movements from Lebanon into Syria have remained broadly stable in recent months, with the gradual pattern observed following the 17 April 2026 ceasefire continuing through the reporting period. From 2 March to 5 October, DTM recorded 130,598 arrivals across 1,187 communities in all 14 governorates. Syrian nationals continued to account for the overwhelming majority of arrivals, while Lebanese nationals represented less than 1 per cent. Flow monitoring at four assessed Syrian-Lebanese border crossings recorded approximately 864,238 movements into Syria during the same period, comprising 98 per cent Syrian and 2 per cent Lebanese nationals. In addition, 4,480 Lebanese nationals were recorded transiting through Syria towards Jordan, reflecting the continued use of Syria as both a destination and transit route within wider regional movements. Access conditions continued to shape movement across the different Points of Entry (PoEs). While Arida remained closed following its 6 August temporary closure for technical works on the Lebanese side, movements continued through the other assessed crossings. During the reporting period, Key Informants (KIs) reported needs related to transportation, basic assistance, and access to services at and beyond the crossings. DTM continues to monitor cross-border movements and changes in access conditions, with current findings indicating that movement patterns have remained relatively gradual and stable.

Yemen Displacement Tops 200,000, Needs Soar and Funding Alarmingly Dries Up

Country: Yemen Source: International Organization for Migration Geneva/Aden, 7 October 2026 – A total of 201,217 people have been forced from their homes in Yemen since fighting started, according to the latest data released today by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The number is rising every day, and so are humanitarian needs. The money to help those in most need is alarmingly running out. "People are running for their lives and finding nowhere safe to go," said IOM Director General Amy Pope. "They need a roof, food and safety today. Our teams are on the ground, but the funding is not. I am asking donors to act now, because every day of delay costs lives. Yemen must not become a forgotten crisis. The world has the means to help. It must use them now." The speed of this crisis is alarming. In mid-September, IOM's Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) counted 76,000 displaced people. By the end of the month, the figure had passed 145,000. Today it stands at 201,217 people, or 33,776 households. Nearly all of them, 197,755, have fled since 1 September. Displacement now spans 10 governorates. Ta'iz is the hardest hit, with 114,708 displaced people, 57 per cent of the total. Lahj follows with 42,264, Aden with 20,814, Abyan with 9,030 and Al Hodeidah with 8,244. Smaller numbers are recorded in Hadramawt (2,478), Shabwah (1,188), Ma'rib (1,080), Al Maharah (936) and Ad Dali' (475). Three districts account for three in four of those recorded in Ta'iz: Al Ma'afer (31,230), Jabal Habashi (31,020) and Ash Shamayatayn (24,894). In Lahj, IOM recorded 23,616 people in Al Madaribah Wa Al Aarah and 14,676 in Tuban. In Aden, 10,320 were recorded in Al Burayqah. The crisis is also crossing borders. More than 3,700 people have fled by sea to Djibouti. They arrive exhausted, in overcrowded boats, with little food or water. Families are leaving with almost nothing. Many flee at night, carrying what they can. Most are women and children. For many, this is not the first time. Yemen has endured more than 12 years of conflict. Families who rebuilt their lives once, or twice, have lost everything again. IOM teams speak to displaced families every day. What they hear is clear. Shelter is the most urgent need, cited by 35 per cent. Food follows at 33 per cent. Cash support comes next at 22 per cent. One in ten say protection is what they need most. These are the basics of survival. Families are crowding into makeshift shelters or staying with relatives and neighbours. Host communities are sharing what little they have. They cannot carry this alone. "Every day our teams meet families who have lost everything," Pope said. "We know what they need. We know how to deliver it. What we lack is the means to reach them all." The response is badly underfunded. Yemen's humanitarian response plan is only 20 per cent funded. Relief stocks are running low. Needs are growing far faster than the resources to meet them. IOM teams are working with local authorities and partners to deliver emergency shelter, essential household items, cash, clean water and protection services. In Djibouti, IOM is helping people as they come ashore. It is not enough. IOM calls on the international community for immediate funding so humanitarian partners can save lives in Yemen. IOM also calls on all parties to protect civilians and aid workers, and to allow safe, unhindered access to people in need. Displacement is expected to keep rising in the coming days. IOM will continue to track movements and share verified data. A detailed data breakdown will follow. For more information, please visit IOM's Media Centre .

Situation Update No. 4: Escalation of hostilities and displacement across Yemen Update No. 4 | As of 5 October 2026 | Reporting period: 1 August – 5 October 2026 | Countrywide

Country: Yemen Source: UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Please refer to the attached file. KEY HIGHLIGHTS A total of 180,312 people (30,052 households) were displaced between 1 August and 3 October 2026 due to conflict. The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) figures, which also serve as the alert baseline for the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM), show that 96 per cent of this displacement was recorded from 31 August onwards, following the intensification of hostilities. Ta’iz governorate hosts 56 per cent of the displaced, followed by Lahj (22%), Aden (11%) and Al Hodeidah (3%) governorates. New displacement continues. DTM recorded 47,010 newly displaced people (7,835 households) between 21 September and 3 October, including 31,560 people in the week of 27 September – 3 October alone, and RRM continues to receive alerts for approximately 400–700 newly displaced households every day. Around 64 per cent of displaced people remain within their own governorate, while 36 per cent (64,020 people) have crossed into another governorate, mainly from Ta’iz and Al Hodeidah into Lahj and Aden. Fighting near existing displacement sites in Ta’iz is forcing already displaced families to move again. Civilian casualties continue to rise, with children among the most affected. According to the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR), at least 46 civilians have been killed since the start of August, 24 of them children. More than 130 others have been injured, including 84 women and children. A total of 120,232 IDPs (17,176 households) have been reached with assistance, equivalent to 57 per cent of displaced households. Multi-purpose cash partners have reached 10,466 households and food security partners have reached 15,697 households, mostly with only the first of three planned cycles. Access constraints continue to impede the response. The eastern corridor into Ta’iz City is closed, with blocked roads between Aden and Ta’iz disrupting the main supply route from the Aden warehouses, and telecommunications outages continue to delay verification and cash distributions.

New IOM Data: Yemen Displacement Reaches 184,000

Country: Yemen Source: International Organization for Migration Geneva/Aden, 5 October 2026 - Intense fighting in Yemen has displaced more than 184,000 people between 1 August and 4 October alone, the majority since the start of September, according to IOM's Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM). In the week between 27 September and 3 October, DTM recorded 21,798 individuals, or 3,633 households, who were displaced at least once, representing a 26 per cent increase on the previous week. A further 6,474 people, or 1,079 households, were displaced on 4 October alone. All are in need of food, shelter, and other basic humanitarian assistance. "As the conflict intensifies, more and more people are thrown into an appalling cycle of displacement, living in fear of their lives and with their futures uncertain," said IOM Director General, Amy Pope. "We reiterate the urgent need for securing humanitarian access to all those impacted. The international community must urgently do more to allow humanitarians to meet critical needs." A rapid protection assessment conducted in three displacement sites in Ma'rib last week found that the lack of safe shelter remains the most critical vulnerability factor. Some assessed households are sleeping in the open, which exposes them to violence and to the effects of the conflict, such as airstrikes. Women and girls raised the shortage of appropriate latrines as a concern. Approximately 45 per cent of assessed households had experienced displacement before, together with loss of assets and unstable livelihoods, reducing households' ability to cope. In these conditions, households may turn to harmful coping strategies including child labour, IOM warns. The assessment also identified multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities among persons and households, including persons with disabilities, female-headed households, children and older persons. IOM teams are working with local authorities and humanitarian partners to reach newly displaced families with emergency shelter, essential household items, cash assistance, clean water and sanitation, and protection services. DTM monitors population movements every day, and its data helps partners deliver aid where it is needed most. IOM calls for the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, and for safe, unimpeded access so that aid can reach displaced families and the communities hosting them. With the situation remaining volatile, further displacement is possible in the coming days. IOM will continue tracking population movements and sharing verified data as events unfold. Assessment of displacement dynamics in Mozambique: Mobility Tracking Report Round 24 (July 2026)

Country: Mozambique Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached file. This report presents the key findings from Mobility Tracking Round 24, conducted across all provinces of Mozambique between May and June 2026. Data were collected through key informant interviews, group discussions and sampled household surveys through the demographic and displacement calculator (DDC) at locality and displacement-site levels. The assessment provides a nationwide baseline of the geographic distribution, demographic profile and mobility dynamics of IDPs and returnees, supporting evidence-based humanitarian programming, emergency preparedness and response, and longer-term solutions planning. During Round 24, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), in collaboration with the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD) and the National Institute of Statistics (INE), identified 160,502 displaced households comprising 663,769 individuals. The identified IDP population represents an approximately 0.3 per cent increase compared with the previous assessment, Round 23. This increase is largely attributed to the expanded displacement monitoring coverage in Gaza province following heavy rainfall and flooding in Southern Mozambique during the 2025/2026 rainy season. Cabo Delgado continues to host the largest share of the displaced population, accounting for 68 per cent of all identified IDPs, followed by Sofala province with 15 per cent. Overall, 73 per cent of identified IDPs were displaced by conflict, while 27 per cent were displaced as a result of climatic shocks and other disaster-related events. Conflict-induced displacement remains the predominant driver of population movements in Northern Mozambique. In contrast, displacement in Central and Southern Mozambique continues to be primarily associated with climatic hazards, including floods and other weather-related shocks

Libya — Migrant Report 63 (May – June 2026)

Countries: Libya, World Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached file. During the May–June 2026 reporting period (Round 63), the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) identified 950,004 migrants across 100 municipalities and 641 communities in Libya, representing a slight increase of less than 1 per cent compared to the previous round, when 943,748 migrants were identified in March–April 2026. This marginal increase may reflect the seasonal rise in mobility typically observed ahead of the summer peak. Longitudinally, migrant presence in Libya has increased by 35 per cent since April 2023, when 705,746 migrants were identified, coinciding with the onset of the conflict in Sudan. As Libya enters the third year since the start of the Sudanese conflict, its current migrant landscape continues to be shaped by long-standing seasonal and economically driven mobility patterns, alongside conflict-related flows that have contributed to changes in the composition and scale of migrant presence.

Yemen-Conflict Escalation, Mass Displacement | Disaster Brief (OT-2026-000172-YEM) - 25 September 2026

Country: Yemen Source: International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Please refer to the attached file. Yemen is experiencing a renewed escalation of conflict, with a significant deterioration in humanitarian conditions since early September 2026. Intensified hostilities have resulted in civilian casualties, large-scale internal displacement and increased pressure on essential services and communities hosting displaced families. The most significant displacement has been recorded in Ta’iz and Lahj, with additional displacement reported in Aden, Al Hodeidah, Abyan, Hadramawt and Ma’rib, with many families experiencing secondary or repeated displacement, further increasing protection risks and reducing household coping capacity. As of 23 September 2026, IOM Yemen’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) had recorded 134,550 internally displaced people, representing 22,425 households, cumulatively since the escalation began in June 2026. The largest concentration was reported in Ta’iz Governorate, hosting 75,180 people (56%), followed by Lahj with 34,446 (26%) and Aden with 10,920 (8%). Additional displacement was recorded in Al Hodeidah (8,244), Abyan (3,888), Hadramawt (1,254) and Ma’rib (618). IOM notes that its monitoring has partial geographic coverage and therefore represents recorded displacement rather than a comprehensive estimate of all displacement associated with the escalation. The escalation is compounding long-standing humanitarian vulnerabilities in Yemen, including high levels of food insecurity, weakened basic services, protracted displacement and constrained household coping capacity. The Yemen Red Crescent Society (YRCS) has activated its Emergency Operations Centre and is responding through its branches, volunteers and emergency medical services, supporting first aid, casualty transport and referrals, rapid assessments and relief assistance in affected areas.

Country: Haiti Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached file.

Country: Central African Republic Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached file.

Somalia - Emergency Trend Tracking (ETT) - 5 Districts assessed | Week 14 (13 – 16 September 2026)

Somalia - Emergency Trend Tracking (ETT) - 5 Districts assessed | Week 14 (13 – 16 September 2026)

Country: Somalia Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached Infographic. DTM launched a new round of ETT on 14 June 2026 using an updated methodology to monitor displacement driven by conflict, as well as the climatic impacts of the very strong El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to trigger significant displacement toward the end of the year. Since June 2026, DTM teams collected data in up to 13 districts across Somalia: Baidoa, Dayniile, Diinsoor, Doolow, Kahda, Baki, Borama, Burco, Hargeisa, Bossaso, Caluula, Qandala, and Qardho. For week 14, only 5 districts were assessed due to limited funding: Baidoa, Dayniile, Diinsoor, Doolow, and Kahda. ETT is a crisis-based tool that tracks sudden displacement triggered by specific events or emerging crises. Its objective is to support the prioritization of humanitarian response and enable partners to deliver rapid assistance. It includes information on new arrivals, the number and demographics of IDPs, reasons for displacement, intentions, humanitarian assistance received, and priority needs, among others. Based on previous shock induced displacement patterns, the humanitarian community expects continued movement toward urban areas in search of services. Consequently, ETT coverage focuses on main urban centers and surrounding villages within each assessed district.
