Where the data comes from
Everything on BurnMonitor is derived from public on-chain data, public price feeds and established news publishers.
On-chain data
Our own indexer reads burn transfers, supply and burn-address balances directly from public nodes on the chains we monitor:
- β Ethereum β per-transaction burn events + supply; transactions link to the public explorer.
- β BNB Chain β supply and burn-address balance snapshots; transactions link to the public explorer.
- β Base β supply and burn-address balance snapshots; transactions link to the public explorer.
- β Solana β per-transaction burn events + supply; transactions link to the public explorer.
Update frequency: burn events are indexed continuously; supply snapshots and aggregates refresh every few minutes. Pages are cached for 60 seconds.
Prices
USD prices and 24h price changes come from public market data APIs (CoinGecko). Prices are refreshed every few minutes and are used as-isfor USD conversions β a burn's USD value is computed at the current price, not the price at the moment of the burn.
News
Headlines are aggregated from established crypto publications via our news indexing service. We show the title, source, logo and a link to the original article; we do not republish article bodies. Entity tags (tokens, people, organisations) are extracted automatically and may contain occasional false positives.
Known limitations
- One chain per token. Multichain tokens (FLOKI, BABYDOGE) are measured on the monitored chain only.
- Burn addresses: we track the widely recognised ones. Project-specific burn mechanisms may be missed β tell us.
- Minting / issuance is not yet tracked, so βburnedβ is not the same as βnet supply changeβ.
- Snapshot-based chains can attribute a burn to the wrong hour if a snapshot is delayed.
