12 New Things to Expect From Apple in October

12 New Things to Expect From Apple in October

October is about to become a very busy month for Apple, with the company set to release the iPhone Duo, both iOS 27.1 and iOS 27.2, and a new Mac Studio configuration with 512GB of RAM. In addition, up to seven more Apple products may be unveiled this month, including an all-new smart home hub, a new Apple TV 4K, a new HomePod mini, an iPad mini with an OLED display, MacBook Pro models with OLED displays, and more. Below, we have outlined 12 new things to expect from Apple in October. This article was published previously and updated with the latest rumors. Confirmed iPhone Duo: The foldable iPhone Duo launches on Friday, October 23. Pre-orders begin Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. iOS 27.1: Apple said the iPhone Duo will ship with iOS 27.1 , so the software update is expected to be released before October 23. iOS 27.2: Apple jumped ahead to an iOS 27.2 beta because iOS 27.1 is dedicated to the iPhone Duo. iOS 27.2 adds support for the five additional Siri AI languages that Apple promised would be coming in October, so accordingly we can expect iOS 27.2 to be released at some point during the month. Mac Studio (512GB RAM): While the new Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips was released last week, Apple said a high-end configuration with the M5 Ultra and 512GB of RAM will be available in "late October ." Rumored The following three devices will be unveiled on Tuesday, October 13 , according to a report from Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman: Home hub: An all-new Apple smart home hub featuring Siri AI, a 6-inch to 7-inch square display, an A18 chip or newer for Apple Intelligence, FaceTime, and more. A new operating system will feature clock faces, widgets, and more. There will be a tabletop version with a speaker base and a wall-mounted version. ↳ homeOS: Apple's smart home hub is expected to run an all-new operating system that may be named homeOS, according to trademark filings. Apple TV 4K (4th Generation): A19 or A19 Pro chip , an increased 8GB to 12GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence and Siri AI support, an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and an updated Siri Remote . A leak revealed the new Apple TV will look the same as the existing model . HomePod mini 2: Newer chip, Siri AI support, improved sound quality, Apple's N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, and new color options, including pink and green . No major design changes. Apple is planning to unveil a second set of new products in the final week of October , according to MacRumors sources. While we do not know exactly which products are coming at this time, it is likely that the following Macs will be announced: 14" and 16" MacBook Pro models with OLED displays: A major MacBook Pro redesign with an OLED display, touchscreen support, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips , a Dynamic Island , a thinner-and-lighter design , and potentially Apple's C1X or C2 modem for built-in cellular connectivity . 24" iMac: M6 chip and new color options . 14" MacBook Pro: M6 chip . A new iPad mini is also expected at some point in October: iPad mini 8: OLED display , A20 Pro chip , landscape front camera , redesigned speaker system , and water-resistant design . Apple has yet to announce an October event. When it held a "Scary Fast" event on October 30, 2023, Apple sent out invites six days prior , on October 24. Today is six days before the October 13 date that Apple reportedly plans to unveil an all-new home hub, so we shall see if history repeats itself and invites go out today. If there are no October events planned, then expect press releases on the Apple Newsroom website, along with shorter per-product YouTube videos and hands-on gatherings for selected journalists and content creators. Apple today seeded the second betas of iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and watchOS 27.2. The software comes a day after Apple provided the third betas to developers. Apple TV 4K Rumored to Support Four HomePods for Surround Sound

Apple TV 4K Rumored to Support Four HomePods for Surround Sound

Last month, a proven leaker revealed that Apple has tested the ability to connect four HomePods to an Apple TV 4K for surround sound, with the HomePods intended to be arranged in front-left, front-right, rear-left, and rear-right positions. Now further evidence of this functionality has surfaced ahead of an announcement from Apple. First, the same leaker known as "pdfu" has uncovered additional code related to a four-HomePod surround sound system in the latest beta of audioOS, which is Apple's internal name for the HomePod's operating system. For example, on the third audioOS 27.2 beta, he said that "Siri can match a speaker to its surround system." Second, MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris discovered that the third beta of macOS 27.2 contains two new SF Symbols depicting a group of four speakers in a room. While the HomePod is not mentioned in the names of the symbols, one of them appears to show a basic top-down view of HomePods, and the other mentions that the four speakers are part of a home theater setup. The timing of these symbols being added by Apple suggests they could be related to the rumored four-HomePod surround sound functionality. Apple plans to unveil new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K models on Tuesday, October 13 , according to Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman, while he said that the full-sized HomePod will be updated " eventually ." However, it is unclear if this surround-sound functionality will require new HomePods. The leaker "pdfu" previously said that Apple tested two different setups, including four second-generation HomePods, and two second-generation HomePods in front positions paired with two unreleased speakers in rear positions. It is also unclear if any existing Apple TV 4K models will support four HomePods, or if the functionality will be limited to the upcoming model. Currently, you can set two HomePod or HomePod mini speakers as the default audio output on all Apple TV 4K models for stereo sound. With new HomePod and Apple TV models on the horizon, and all of the mounting evidence across Apple's software code and symbols, it seems likely that Apple will unveil this new functionality fairly soon, barring any last-minute issues. tvOS 27.2 Code Hints at Apple Intelligence for New Apple TV

tvOS 27.2 Code Hints at Apple Intelligence for New Apple TV

Apple's latest tvOS 27.2 beta adds weight to rumors that the next Apple TV will have Siri AI and Apple Intelligence support. Code suggests Apple is adding an Improve ‌Siri‌ & ‌Apple Intelligence‌ toggle to the tvOS Settings app. "Help improve foundation models and ‌Siri‌ by allowing Apple to collect and use your text and audio interactions with ‌Siri‌, Dictation, and Translate," the text reads. Other Apple devices with ‌Apple Intelligence‌ have similarly labeled privacy disclosures and data-sharing opt-ins. On devices that don't support ‌Apple Intelligence‌, the setting is labeled "Improve ‌Siri‌ & Dictation." The new code is included alongside the existing code for ‌Siri‌ data sharing, so it's likely only Apple Intelligence-capable hardware will see it. tvOS 27.2 also has a new ‌Siri‌ Messages UI framework, indicating message content could be displayed on the ‌Apple TV‌ in the future. ‌Siri‌ may be able to read messages sent to a linked iPhone and show smart reply options on the ‌Apple TV‌. The current version of ‌Siri‌ on ‌Apple TV‌ doesn't support sending or reading messages, so the framework is likely linked to ‌Siri‌ AI. Apple is working on a version of the ‌Apple TV‌ with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and an A19 or A19 Pro chip , hardware that could support on-device ‌Siri‌ AI features. Apple appears to be laying the groundwork for the new ‌Apple TV‌ with tvOS 27.2. We could get a new ‌Apple TV‌ as soon as October 13 . Mac Users Reclaim Storage With New Apple Intelligence Removal Tool

Mac Users Reclaim Storage With New Apple Intelligence Removal Tool

A new open-source tool is making waves in the Mac community by helping users reclaim valuable storage space taken up by Apple's AI models. Called " RemoveMacAI ," the tool disables Apple Intelligence on macOS 27, removes its downloaded models, and prevents them from being downloaded again. In macOS 27, Apple removed the toggle to disable Apple Intelligence wholesale, and simply disabling individual features doesn't remove the models from your Mac's drive. As explained by the developer , RemoveMacAI gets around this by using a configuration profile to switch off Apple's own asset management service and remove the models. It then configures the system so attempts to download the removed models are redirected to a closed local port, preventing them from immediately coming back. And it does all this without disabling System Integrity Protection (SIP) or manually deleting files from protected system locations, unlike some older tools have. The tool can reclaim roughly 10GB+ of space depending on which models are present on your Mac, though some users are reporting cases where Apple Intelligence models are taking up a lot more space. With the Apple models gone, you lose all Siri-related AI features, Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, summaries, smart replies, inline predictions, Photos Clean Up, Spatial Photos, and Xcode predictive completion. Even so, plenty of users appear happy to make the sacrifice to free up space, especially on non-upgradeable Macs with 256GB of storage. The profile reportedly persists across updates. And if you're wondering, dictation still works. The project has attracted hundreds of GitHub stars since its release last week, and there's lots of discussion on Reddit and Hacker News about the need for such a tool. Just be aware that MacRumors isn't endorsing RemoveMacAI, and anyone using it does so at their own risk. The developer has mentioned one caveat, and it's that some of the configuration-profile restriction keys that the tool relies on were deprecated by Apple in macOS 26.4. While they still work in macOS 27.0.1, a future version could always change that. Something to keep in mind. EU iPhone and iPad Users Could Still Face Months-Long Wait for Siri AI

EU iPhone and iPad Users Could Still Face Months-Long Wait for Siri AI

Apple's upgraded Siri AI could remain unavailable in the European Union for several months yet, according to Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman. In his latest Power On newsletter , Gurman said a delay of around five months would be the "absolute best-case scenario," with European users potentially facing an even longer wait while Apple negotiates its compliance with the bloc's digital rules. Gurman reckons Apple is withholding the upgrade to pressure the European Commission, hoping that frustrated customers will push for changes to its approach, and he compared the situation with Apple Intelligence's delayed EU rollout. Note that Siri AI is not available in the EU on iPhone or iPad, but EU users have access to it on Mac. ‌ Tags: European Union , Mark Gurman , Siri , Siri AI This article, " EU iPhone and iPad Users Could Still Face Months-Long Wait for Siri AI " first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

Apple's Smart Home Hub: Everything We Know So Far

Apple's Smart Home Hub: Everything We Know So Far

Apple is working on a new smart home accessory that will serve as a hub for interacting with Siri AI, controlling HomeKit devices, watching videos, checking the calendar and the weather, and generally offering up useful information to everyone in the household. This guide aggregates everything that we know about Apple's smart home hub. Design Apple's smart home device will somewhat resemble an iPad , and it will have a display-focused design. It is expected to be square rather than rectangular, and it will measure in at 6 inches with quarter-inch black bezels around the edges. In terms of size, it will look similar to two iPhones that are side-by-side, and it will be about as thick as an iPhone. Apple imagines people having multiples of the hub in different rooms of the house. The device will support touch input for opening apps and controlling connected devices. Apple is making two versions of the home hub. One will have a 6-inch display and is meant to be mounted on the wall, and the second version has the same 6-inch display and a hemispherical speaker base that looks similar to the iMac G4. The display attaches to the base with a polished metal arm that holds the small screen and allows it to be tilted forward or backward. The base features speaker hole perforations and a rubber bottom for stability. The original ‌iMac‌ G4 The wall-mounted version will have a thin square base for the speakers and the mics, and it will sit flush against the wall. Both models will have a 1080p camera on the front for FaceTime calls, authenticating users, and recognizing different people in the home. Apple is planning to release the hub in a gray aluminum finish. The device has no internal battery and is instead meant to be used while connected to power via USB-C. Sensors The smart home hub will be able to determine how close a person is standing to it, adjusting features from there. When no one is nearby, for example, it might show the temperature, but as someone approaches, it could shift to an interface for adjusting the thermostat. Person detection will likely allow it to be used in smart home automations for doing things like turning on the lights when someone enters a room. The sensor will be able to tell one person from another, and it could recognize hand gestures for longer-range control. Facial recognition The home hub will use a Face ID-like feature along with voice for authentication and to identify who is in a room. With the recognition features, the home hub will be able to switch to the profile for the person in the home who is interacting with the device. Each user will have a customizable profile and interface with options to change profiles through the Control Center. The camera won't be as accurate as Face ID , so voice is an alternative. Apple's HomePod also uses voice recognition for some personalized features. Users will be able to set up secondary authentication with an iPhone for more security, and a visitor mode will hide personal information. Rumors suggest there is a Mac-style edge light around the screen to offer lighting so the device can identify people in the dark. Chip Apple's smart home accessory is expected to use an A18 chip or better for Apple Intelligence support. Given that ‌Apple Intelligence‌ requires 8GB RAM minimum, it will have at least 8GB RAM. Operating System Apple's home hub will run an operating system that Apple refers to as "Charismatic" internally, though it could be called homeOS when it launches. It's going to use elements from tvOS, watchOS, and iOS, and it will sync with the iPhone for setup purposes. Interface Apple does not plan to create a dedicated App Store for the home hub, but it will come with several apps pre-installed. The main view will be a customizable home screen with widgets that can show the weather, important home controls, photo slideshows, upcoming events, and more. A built-in camera will scan the face of each user, bringing up different apps and a Home Screen for each person. The interface is something like a cross between watchOS and the iPhone's StandBy mode, with a heavy focus on clock faces and photo slideshows when the device is idle. The ‌Home Screen‌ will feature Apple Watch-like icons, but the apps will have an iPad-like design with a two-panel layout. There will be familiar customization options like pressing and holding to rearrange icons and swiping up to get to the app launcher. There will be a Widget Gallery that suggests widgets from a linked iPhone. Widgets shown on the device from an iPhone that's connected will only display widget content when the primary user is in the home. A Smart Stack will be available to intelligently rotate through different widget options throughout the day, and the clock will be customizable with a Face Gallery. The hub will adopt the visual aesthetic of ‌Siri‌ AI, with darker design elements. A software-based dock will be available for launching apps, and the hub will be built around ‌Siri‌ AI. Apps Several Apple apps will be installed even though there won't be a dedicated ‌App Store‌. Apps that are rumored: Safari Apple News Apple Music Apple Podcasts Notes Calendar Photos Home Messages Reminders ‌FaceTime‌ The hub will support integration into ‌HomeKit‌ scenes alongside other smart home products, and it will play videos, so it can be used for things like following along with a recipe when in the kitchen. Intercom More than one of the devices can be used throughout the home, and two or more can serve as room-to-room intercoms. AirPlay With its built-in speakers, the device will support music playback and it will be able to work as an AirPlay receiver. homeOS Trademark Apple appears to be using a shell company to trademark "homeOS" in several countries around the world, with the trademarking kicking off in October 2024. Apple has secured the homeOS trademark in Liechtenstein, and trademarks are pending in the U.S., Argentina, Peru, and more. Future Smart Home Accessories Apple is creating an indoor security camera that will connect to the home hub, and it's rumored for 2027. Privacy would be a focus, providing an alternative to cameras from companies like Ring and Nest. Pricing Apple's home hub could be priced somewhere around $350 , which would make it more expensive than competing products like the Amazon Echo Show. Launch Date Apple's smart home hub is rumored to be debuting on October 13 alongside a new Apple TV 4K and a new HomePod mini . Apple Still Plans to Release a New Full-Sized HomePod

Apple Still Plans to Release a New Full-Sized HomePod

Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman today briefly mentioned that "Apple aims to eventually update its larger HomePod," assuring that the company remains committed to the full-sized speaker, which was discontinued in 2021 and reintroduced in 2023 . The report said a new HomePod mini, new Apple TV 4K, and an all-new Apple smart home hub will all be announced on Tuesday, October 13 , but it sounds like a new version of the full-sized HomePod will not be unveiled until a later date. If and when it does finally arrive, expect support for the more intelligent Siri AI to be a key new feature. Siri AI support would require a faster chip—the current HomePod uses the Apple Watch Series 7's S7 chip. Other likely upgrades include improved audio quality, new color options, and Apple's custom-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support. The full-sized HomePod is a relatively niche product, but it is a convenient choice for Apple fans with home theater setups. A pair of HomePods can be set as an Apple TV 4K's default audio output, allowing for stereo sound. In June, Apple raised prices on more than a dozen products, including the full-sized HomePod. In the U.S., the current model is now priced at $349, up from $299 when it was released in 2023. The first-generation HomePod was initially $349 too when it launched in 2018, so the speaker's pricing has come full circle. Three New Apple Smart Home Products Coming on October 13

Apple plans to introduce a series of new smart home products on Tuesday, October 13, according to Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman . Apple reportedly plans to debut its long-awaited smart home hub device, a new HomePod mini , and a new Apple TV . The new ‌HomePod mini‌ and ‌Apple TV‌ are set to retain their existing designs, but tout faster chips to support Siri AI. The new ‌HomePod mini‌ will also come in new color options, including pink and green. All three products are set to showcase ‌Siri‌ AI, which apparently explains the delay in their launch. All three were originally planned to launch in 2024. Apple plans to update the larger HomePod at a later date. A privacy-focused home security camera and sensor is also in the works. The device can detect which room a person is in and does not record video. Apple also continues to work on a higher-end version of the home hub, featuring a 9-inch display mounted on a robotic arm that can swivel 360 degrees. Switch Siri AI for ChatGPT on Your Mac

Switch Siri AI for ChatGPT on Your Mac

In macOS 27 Golden Gate, Siri AI is a lot smarter than before, so it doesn't always flail and attempt to hand your questions over to ChatGPT. However, if you still prefer OpenAI's chatbot for certain queries, you can still ask for it explicitly. In macOS Tahoe, Siri would suggest passing a request to ChatGPT when it thought the chatbot could help. In macOS 27 though, ChatGPT only answers when you specifically ask it. There's also no setting that makes ChatGPT your default assistant – as things stand, you need to choose it for each query. Here's how it's done. Turn On the ChatGPT Extension Open System Settings . Click Siri in the sidebar. Click ChatGPT under "Extension." Turn on Use Extension . Choose whether to sign in with a ChatGPT account. If you sign in, your requests are saved to your ChatGPT chat history (OpenAI's privacy policies apply). If you skip sign-in, OpenAI receives nothing tied to your Apple Account and it can't store your requests. Ask ChatGPT in Search or Ask Press Command-Space to open the Search or Ask bar (formerly Spotlight Search). Right-click (or Control-click) the field. Choose Ask ➝ Use ChatGPT . Type your question, then press Enter. When an answer comes back, unless there are follow-up questions, the field will switch back to Siri AI for the next query. So if you want to use ChatGPT again, you'll need to manually choose it next time around. Another way to query ChatGPT directly is to start your spoken Siri request with "ask ChatGPT." The same phrasing works if you type it into the Search or Ask field. ChatGPT is the only option for now in Golden Gate. Code in macOS 27 suggests that Claude can appear in the same Ask menu, but Apple has yet to make AI provider selection available. New Apple TV 4K Hinted at in Support Document

New Apple TV 4K Hinted at in Support Document

Last week, MacRumors uncovered evidence of an Apple TV 4K (4th generation) , and now an Apple support document has further hinted at a new model. Apple on Monday updated a support document related to lossless audio in Apple Music with the following fine print below the Apple TV 4K section: Hi-Res Lossless is available only on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation or later). Given the Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) is the current model, the "or later" wording is noteworthy, as it could mean that a new model is imminent. However, Apple could simply be future-proofing the document or have made a mistake. In any case, the support document adds to growing anticipation for a new Apple TV 4K, which is expected to be announced this October. The next Apple TV is rumored to have an A19 or A19 Pro chip , an increased 8GB to 12GB of RAM, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI support , an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and a revised Siri Remote . The image of the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) that we obtained last week did not reveal any design changes compared to the current model. The current Apple TV is nearly four years old, having been announced in October 2022. It is equipped with an A15 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM. In June, the Apple TV received a price increase amid surging memory chip costs. In the U.S., for example, the device now starts at $199, up from $129. October will be an especially busy month for Apple this year, with the company set to release the iPhone Duo, both iOS 27.1 and iOS 27.2, and a new Mac Studio configuration with 512GB of RAM. In addition, up to six more Apple products may be unveiled next month, such as new iPad mini, HomePod mini, and Apple TV 4K models. Below, we have outlined 12 new things to expect from Apple this October. Mac Studio (512GB RAM): While the new Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips was released last week, Apple said a high-end configuration with the M5 Ultra and 512GB of RAM will be available in late October . Rumored iPad mini 8: OLED display , A20 Pro chip , landscape front camera , redesigned speaker system , and water-resistant design . 24" iMac: M6 chip and new color options . 14" MacBook Pro: M6 chip . 14" and 16" MacBook Pro models with OLED displays: A major MacBook Pro redesign in late 2026 with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips , an OLED display, a touch screen, a Dynamic Island, and a thinner design. Home hub: An all-new Apple smart home hub featuring Siri AI, a 6-inch to 7-inch square display, an A18 chip or newer for Apple Intelligence, FaceTime, and more. A new operating system will feature clock faces, widgets, and more. There will be a tabletop version with a speaker base and a wall-mounted version. homeOS: Apple's smart home hub is expected to run an all-new operating system that may be named homeOS, according to trademark filings. Top Stories: Apple Leaks, Siri AI Settlement, and More

Top Stories: Apple Leaks, Siri AI Settlement, and More

The Apple rumor mill never stops, and this week MacRumors was able to break the news of details on several upcoming products. We're also still learning more about the just-released iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max plus the upcoming iPhone Duo, while this week saw the debut of new Beats 360 headphones and the start of claim acceptance for the class action lawsuit over Siri AI delays, so read on below for all of the details on these stories and more! Top Stories iPad Mini With A20 Pro, New HomePod Mini Colors, and New Apple TV 4K All Just Leaked MacRumors this week leaked the next iPad mini, HomePod mini, and Apple TV 4K models , all of which are likely to be announced this October as part of another wave of product launches including an all-new operating system to accompany some of the new hardware. The most notable iPad mini details revealed in the leaks include an A20 Pro chip, a new speaker design, and a landscape front camera, while images have revealed that the next HomePod mini will be available in new colors like green and pink. There is also evidence of an upcoming "Apple TV 4K (4th generation)" model , so it appears that a new Apple TV is finally coming soon after a four-year wait. A separate Apple code leak has confirmed some rumored details for the 12th-generation iPad , although we're not expecting that to launch until early next year. Siri AI Settlement Website Now Live: Apple to Pay Some iPhone Owners In May, Apple agreed to pay $250 million to settle a U.S. class action lawsuit over Siri AI's delayed launch, and the settlement website is now live . Apple will pay an estimated $25 per eligible iPhone to eligible customers, who can submit a claim via the settlement website between September 21 and December 21 of this year. The exact payment may be higher or lower than $25 depending on the total number of valid claims submitted and other factors, with the maximum amount set at $95. Apple denies all of the allegations made in the lawsuit, but agreed to the settlement to avoid the costs and risks of a trial. iPhone 18 Pro Max Requires 'Prepare to Ship' Battery Drain Before Shipping The iPhone 18 Pro Max has a single-cell battery capacity over 20 watt-hours, which means there are additional shipping requirements. If an ‌iPhone 18 Pro‌ Max needs to be shipped somewhere, its maximum battery capacity has to be limited through firmware . According to Apple, the ‌iPhone 18 Pro‌ Max uses an "innovative battery-firmware solution" that limits battery capacity to below 20Wh between when the iPhone is manufactured and its delivery to a customer. Activating the iPhone removes the limit to make the battery's full charging capacity available. Customers who need to ship the ‌iPhone 18 Pro‌ Max for repair, trade-in, or other purposes have to use a new Prepare to Ship feature. Prepare to Ship discharges the battery to below 20Wh and sets a charge limit so the iPhone stays below the threshold during the shipping process. Apple Exec Says 'Hold Us Accountable' on iPhone Duo Crease Apple hardware engineering VP Tom Marieb recently spoke with TechRadar and shared some candid thoughts about Apple's upcoming iPhone Duo . The ‌iPhone Duo‌ uses a matte nano-texture display, which is meant to cut down on glare and minimize the visibility of the crease. When asked if the ‌iPhone Duo‌'s crease would be more visible over time, as that's what tends to happen on other foldables, Marieb said the nano-texture display would help. He asked people to hold the company "accountable" on crease visibility. Marieb also discussed the Duo's innovative hinge, the use of Ceramic Shield 2 on the front display, and more. Beats 360 Deliver Customizability and a Revamped Over-Ear Headphone Design After months of teases and leaks, Apple's Beats brand officially announced its new Beats 360 headphone this week . Priced at $349.99, Beats 360 represents a rethinking of the Beats over-ear headphone design, with an emphasis on sound quality, comfort, and customizability. Beats 360 is not a replacement for the brand's Studio Pro over-ear headphone, as the Studio Pro will remain part of the Beats lineup at a reduced price point of $299.99, down from the previous $349.99. Compared to Studio Pro, Beats 360 features a completely new acoustic architecture that delivers up to 1.75× more active noise cancellation and a 12dB increase in output while maintaining clarity across all frequencies with low distortion. Swappable ear and headband cushions let you customize your look by mixing and matching colors and materials, with Beats offering extra cushion kits at heavily discounted prices as part of a launch promo. iPhone 20 Pro Display Sizes Leak Ahead of 2027 Launch Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone lineup coming next year could feature slightly larger displays than the iPhone 18 Pro models, if a recent leak shared on Weibo is accurate. Prolific Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claims that early iPhone 20 Pro display specifications include a 6.41-inch screen with a resolution of approximately 2,686 × 1,236 pixels, while the iPhone 20 Pro Max is said to have a 6.96-inch display with a resolution of around 2,912 × 1,340 pixels. For comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max feature 6.27 inches (rounded to 6.3 inches) and 6.86 inches (rounded to 6.9 inches) respectively. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max resolutions are 2,622 × 1,206 pixels and 2,868 × 1,320 pixels, respectively. watchOS 27: 12 New Things To Check Out on Your Apple Watch

watchOS 27: 12 New Things To Check Out on Your Apple Watch

Apple released watchOS 27 on September 14. The features and changes aren't limited to owners of new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 models. If you have an Apple Watch model that supports the latest update, here are 12 features and changes to check out after installation. To do so, open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap General ➝ Software Update, strap your watch into a charger, and follow the onscreen prompts. Check Out the Dedicated Siri App Siri has finally caught up with the AI revolution, and apart from having contextual awareness, it now has an app of its own that collects every conversation in a single view and syncs them privately across your devices over iCloud. Just ask something on your iPhone and you can pick the thread up again on your Apple Watch, as well as pin conversations worth keeping, or even start a new chat directly from your wrist. Try Siri Modular Watch Face The new Siri watch face is a genuinely useful one. Its rectangular complication shows you whatever sits at the top of your Smart Stack, and it automatically updates through the day based on time, location, and other factors. The Dynamic App Grid Pressing the Digital Crown no longer produces the honeycomb app view by default. Now, watchOS 27 shows a dynamic grid made up of suggested apps, your most-used apps, and your most recently used ones. The Siri app sits in the middle, but the alphabetical list remains available – simply turn the Digital Crown to navigate through all of your apps. New Tap Gesture Apple has added a third gesture to Double Tap and Wrist Flick. The new one is simply called Tap. A single tap of your index finger and thumb opens the highlighted widget in the Smart Stack. You can still navigate the Smart Stack with Double Tap and dismiss notifications with Wrist Flick. Walkie-Talkie Has Been Deleted Walkie-Talkie is gone, and not merely hidden. The app is unavailable after updating to watchOS 27 and cannot be reinstalled from the App Store. You can keep the app by staying on watchOS 26, but you won't be able to start a conversation with a contact who has updated. Live Rewind (Not Yet) This is the change most likely to catch people out. In watchOS 26 and earlier, a double press of the Digital Crown opens the App Switcher, where you can jump back to the previous app, scroll through recent ones, and swipe to force-quit anything misbehaving. That's changed in watchOS 27, in which a double press shows the new dynamic app grid instead. The gesture has been reserved for Live Rewind, an upcoming feature (exclusive to Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4) that produces a transcript of the last fifteen seconds of speech in your environment. Fortunately, the App Switcher will still be available when watchOS 27.2 is released later this year, but it will open with a different gesture. If you're already on the latest beta, simply long press on the bottom of the app that you're in, and that should open the App Switcher. Find My is Now One App Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People have been folded into a single Find My app with a map-centric layout, which also includes shortcuts for directions and for items nearby. Workout Buddy No Longer Needs Your iPhone Introduced in watchOS 26, Workout Buddy previously required your iPhone within range. In watchOS 27, your Apple Watch can run it if Wi-Fi or cellular is available. It also draws new insights from your training history, tracking gradual gains in pace, distance and workout duration, and it now speaks Spanish as well as English. New Cycle Tracking Features Cycle Tracking in the Health app can now notify you if your logged patterns are suggestive of perimenopause, alongside symptom tracking and educational material. The notifications only draw on your logged cycle history and apply to users aged 40 and over. Apple says the feature is not a method of birth control and is not a diagnosis. Treadmill Distance Is More Accurate In watchOS 27, new machine learning motion algorithms measure distance more precisely for indoor runs and walks, and Apple says the improvement starts from the first step, as opposed to settling after a few minutes. Fitness route maps are more accurate too, and step counts finally stay in sync between the Fitness and Health apps. The Smart Stack Gets More to Say The Smart Stack's contextual suggestions are now a lot smarter. A few examples provided by Apple include new widgets surfacing your parked car's location, a close contact's birthday, a change in your transit card balance, the Noise app immediately after a loud-noise alert, a reminder that Theater Mode is still on, pinned messages, celebrations, and identity cards. New Models Get a Steps Counter On Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, the redesigned pedometer model and S11 chip allow watchOS 27 to provide more accurate step counts. There's also a new Steps complication on the latest models to track your steps in real time, right from your watch face. Will we see the feature come to older devices? Your guess is as good as ours. Apple Code Confirms iPad 12 Specs: A19, 8GB RAM, N1, C1X Modem

Apple Code Confirms iPad 12 Specs: A19, 8GB RAM, N1, C1X Modem

The next low-cost iPad will be equipped with an A19 chip, C1X modem, N1 networking chip, and 8GB RAM, according to details found in Apple's code by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris. We've heard some of these same specifications in prior rumors, so this is more of a confirmation than a new leak. The ‌iPad‌ 11 has an A16 chip, so the upgrade to the A19 in the 12th-generation ‌iPad‌ will bring a noticeable improvement in performance. More importantly, the A19 supports Apple Intelligence , so the ‌iPad‌ 12 will have all the ‌Apple Intelligence‌ and Siri AI features missing from the ‌iPad‌ 11. The ‌iPad‌ 11 has 6GB RAM, but 8GB RAM is the minimum for ‌Apple Intelligence‌, and the RAM boost will also speed things up. Apple's C1X modem supports sub–6GHz 5G networks, and it is more efficient than the Qualcomm modem used in the existing ‌iPad‌. The addition of the N1 networking chip will bring support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Though not included in the code, it's possible the ‌iPad‌ 12 will be available in new colors. There is no word on when Apple will release the new ‌iPad‌, and at this point, we're not expecting it until spring 2027. The current ‌iPad‌ is priced starting at $449 after a June 2026 price hike, and the new model will likely have the same starting price. There's no low-cost ‌iPad‌ coming this year, but Apple is expected to refresh the iPad mini before the end of October. We discovered new details about the ‌iPad mini‌ just this morning. It will have an A20 Pro chip, a new speaker system, and a landscape front-facing camera. Prior rumors say it will feature an OLED display as the main upgrade. We also found official images of the Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini , including its colors . The ‌HomePod mini‌ will come in green, pink, blue, white, and black. Exclusive: First Look at HomePod Mini 2 in Three New Colors

Exclusive: First Look at HomePod Mini 2 in Three New Colors

Apple's new HomePod mini will share the same design as the original model and come in five colors, MacRumors has found. The information originates from Apple's own code (spotted by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris) and shows clear product images of the new models in all of their colors. The above image contains Apple's own icons, which specifically refer to a "‌HomePod mini‌ 2." The new ‌HomePod mini‌ will come in green, pink, blue, white, and black. The current model comes in yellow, orange, blue, white, and midnight. The new blue is slightly lighter than the current offering. We are not sharing the exact details of the files, but their presence in Apple's code suggests that the product is likely to launch soon. Apple announced the original ‌HomePod mini‌ in October 2020 for $99. Available initially in white and space gray, the 3.3-inch speaker features a fabric-covered spherical design and a backlit touch surface for playback and volume controls. Its S5 chip powers computational audio, while a full-range driver, two passive radiators, and an acoustic waveguide deliver 360-degree sound. It also offers Siri , smart home control, multiroom audio, stereo pairing with a second ‌HomePod mini‌, and Intercom messages between Apple devices. Apple later raised the price to $129. Apple has been rumored to be working on a new ‌HomePod mini‌ model for several years. A new chip is almost certain to come to the device, along with support for Siri AI . It is expected to launch before the end of 2026 . New Apple TV 4K Leaked

New Apple TV 4K Leaked

MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris has uncovered an image file for an unreleased Apple TV 4K, suggesting that a new model will finally be released soon. Apple TV 4K (4th generation) image (on a gradient) The image reveals that the Apple TV will have the same external design as the current model, with all of its upgrades expected to be internal. Rumored features include an A17 Pro chip or newer, an increased 8GB of RAM, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI support, an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and a revised Siri Remote. The current Apple TV is nearly four years old, having been announced in October 2022. It is equipped with an A15 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM. With an A17 Pro chip or newer, the next Apple TV will have faster performance and hardware-accelerated ray tracing for improved graphics rendering in games. With the N1 chip, the Apple TV will support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Wi-Fi 7 has increased bandwidth, in part because it allows for data transmission over the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously with a supported device and router. Wi-Fi 7 is theoretically up to 4× faster than the current Apple TV's Wi-Fi 6, but real-world speeds are bottlenecked by internet service providers and other factors. Siri AI will likely be the headline new feature on the next Apple TV, with tvOS 27 expected to gain a Siri app on the device. Siri AI is a much more intelligent and personalized version of Siri that can answer pretty much any question. The bump to 8GB of RAM will enable support for not only Siri AI, but some other Apple Intelligence features. A revised Siri Remote of some kind is expected alongside the new Apple TV, but it is unclear exactly what outward changes it will have, if any. In June, Apple raised prices on 14 products, including the Apple TV 4K. In the U.S., the Wi-Fi model with 64GB of storage now starts at $199 (up from $129), while the Wi-Fi + Ethernet model with 128GB of storage now starts at $249 (up from $149). It is unclear if the next Apple TV will maintain those prices or be even more expensive. October is a common month for Apple to announce new products, so stay tuned, as the next Apple TV might just be days or weeks away.
