England ready to level up and embrace ‘calculated risks’, claims Tuchel

Head coach pleased ‘everyone bought in’ to new ideas Jarell Quansah says: ‘We can really dominate teams’ Thomas Tuchel believes England have unlocked a new level after moving forward with his tactical tweaks in the opening Nations League fixtures. The head coach wanted the players to retain their aggression, especially in the high press, to step on to the front foot and to harness the chaos often seen in the Premier League. But he has also tried to get them to play with greater freedom, to trust and follow their instincts more – while being alive to the need to cover for their teammates. The results have been positive. After losing to Spain at Wembley , England recorded three wins: two against Czechia either side of the 7-0 victory against Croatia in Rijeka. They have in essence guaranteed their progress into the quarter-finals of a competition regarded as a tune-up for Euro 2028, while putting a bit of distance between themselves and the heartbreaking World Cup semi-final defeat by Argentina in July. Alex Scott facing two months out after playing through pain with England

Midfielder’s thigh injury a blow for Bournemouth He will miss England games on Tuesday and next month Alex Scott has withdrawn from the England squad and could be out for two months with a thigh injury. The Bournemouth midfielder excelled on his full debut during the 7-0 win over Croatia on Saturday, but he felt discomfort before the game and the problem worsened after playing through the pain. Bournemouth are unlikely to be delighted with how the situation has been handled, but Scott was determined to take his opportunity. He impressed alongside Elliot Anderson in Rijeka and was expected to be handed another start when England host Czechia in the Nations League on Tuesday. Thomas Tuchel will have to adjust his midfield for his side’s fourth and final game of the international break and for November’s games against Croatia and Spain. Continue reading...

Czechia’s Santi Denia: ‘Anthony Gordon? What a player! He’s at the same level as Lamine Yamal’

Czechia’s Santi Denia: ‘Anthony Gordon? What a player! He’s at the same level as Lamine Yamal’

After working with nearly all of Spain’s World Cup-winning squad in their formative years, the coach is also a huge fan of English football. He’s now pitting his wits against both At the end of a 2-0 defeat by England in Prague, the Czechia coach turned left, walked along the touchline, shook Thomas Tuchel’s hand and said something he thinks he had never said at full-time: “See you soon.” To which Tuchel said back: “See you soon.” Seven days later, via Oviedo and Rijeka respectively, they meet again, at Wembley. “Four matches in 11 days, no time to train, for anything; I haven’t heard a single national coach say they like the new setup,” Santi Denia says, but it’s not all bad and there’s a big smile too. This is the start of a new life, yet familiar faces await, warmth in every word. Very familiar faces. If Czechia’s opponents in this Nations League could not have been much worse, they could not have been much better either. In Oviedo, Denia’s team played his country, his players; in London, for the second time in a week, they play the nation he knows better than any other, more footballers he has seen grown up. Hello, again. Continue reading...

Tuchel convinced England have buried World Cup woes with Croatia thrashing

‘We’ll always have a scar, but this is how we move forward’ Manager praises ‘complete package’ Scott on full debut Thomas Tuchel said England have moved on from their World Cup pain after seeing his side deliver a statement performance in Rijeka and hand Croatia their biggest ever defeat. Tuchel was delighted after his front four combined to devastating effect at Stadion HNK Rijeka, where 6,200 local schoolchildren were allowed in free of charge even though the game was supposed to take place behind closed doors after Croatia were punished by Uefa for racist and discriminatory fan behaviour last year. Croatia Airlines to grow ATR wet-lease fleet

Croatia Airlines to grow ATR wet-lease fleet

Croatia Airlines plans to expand its wet-leased turboprop fleet during the 2027 summer season by adding a second ATR aircraft, which is expected to be sourced from Croatian carrier ETF Airways. The additional capacity will result in a significant increase in ATR operations next year, with Croatia Airlines already scheduling exactly double the number of flights with the type compared to the 2026 summer season. The extent of the planned increase is visible in the existing 2027 summer timetable. In July of next year for example, Croatia Airlines has scheduled 544 ATR-operated flights, offering 38.080 seats, up 100% on July 2026. Zagreb accounts for the bulk of the flying next summer. The turboprop is currently most frequently scheduled on flights between Zagreb and Sarajevo, followed by services from the Croatian capital to Munich, Vienna and Zurich. The ATR will also be deployed from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, Mostar, Pula, Split and Zadar. Furthermore, the aircraft will operate a number of services outside Zagreb. Based on the current schedule, the ATR will be used between Munich and both Osijek and Rijeka, as well as on the Pula - Zadar route. A limited number of Dubrovnik - Rome flights are also currently scheduled with the type. The deployment is likely to undergo further changes before the start of the 2027 summer season. Croatia Airlines is expected to continue its cooperation with ETF Airways for the additional wet-leased aircraft. ETF, which has been developing its turboprop operations alongside its existing jet business, is itself expected to grow its ATR fleet. The arrangement gives Croatia Airlines access to lower-capacity aircraft suited to thinner regional markets at a time when its own fleet is being standardised around the Airbus A220. The Croatian carrier is expected to complete its transition to an all-A220 fleet before the start of the 2027 summer season. EX-YU Aviation News
