Jonathan Anderson mixes Austen romance with chic streetware in Dior’s Paris show

Jonathan Anderson mixes Austen romance with chic streetware in Dior’s Paris show

Designer’s latest work takes bold steps away from the fashion house’s brand, creating a show that felt like an event “I want to land on a vibe.” This was how Dior designer Jonathan Anderson, one year into what is arguably the biggest job in fashion, summed up his assignment before his latest show. Expounding on chiffon and buttons with the intensity of a barrister delivering a closing speech in the high court, ruffling his hair as if his mind might at any moment explode with ideas, Anderson brings more brainpower to the pursuit of the vibe than the superficial phrasing suggests. The vibe is coming in to land. This Dior show felt like an event, which is the bar Christian Dior set for his successors back in 1947, when his New Look silhouette made front pages all over the world. Overnight, trees had emerged out of the circular pond in the Tuileries Garden in Paris, and – thanks to the deep pockets of owners LVMH – a magical mist conjured to swirl around them, lending a cinematic grandeur to the slender catwalk spanning the water. (The trees will be replanted elsewhere in the gardens, after the show.) Continue reading...

Dubai South welcomes Dior regional distribution centre

Dubai South welcomes Dior regional distribution centre

Dubai: Dubai South has inaugurated Dior's Regional Distribution Centre for the Middle East at EZDubai Logistics Hub, further strengthening its position as a preferred destination for global companies seeking advanced logistics and supply chain solutions. The inauguration was attended by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South; Nabil Al Kindi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dubai South; Mohsen Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of EZDubai Logistics Hub; Pierre De Maigret, President Middle East at Dior; Anne Borde, Worldwide Supply Chain and Logistics Director at Dior; Eymeric Joussen, Head of Supply Chain and Logistics Middle East at Dior; and other senior officials. Spanning 7,200 square metres across two levels, the facility has been established to support Dior's operations throughout the Middle East. The centre will manage inventory, order fulfilment and boutique replenishment, while also supporting the brand's growing e-commerce activities in the UAE. By positioning inventory closer to regional markets, the new facility is expected to improve product availability and accelerate replenishment across Dior's boutique network, enabling greater responsiveness to customer demand and a more seamless client experience. Nabil Al Kindi said: "We are pleased to inaugurate Dior's new Regional Distribution Centre at Dubai South and welcome another globally renowned brand to our growing logistics ecosystem." He added that the establishment of the facility reflects the confidence international companies continue to place in Dubai as a strategic base for regional operations. "At Dubai South, our mandate is to provide an integrated and efficient environment that enables businesses to optimise their supply chains, enhance connectivity to key markets and support their long-term growth," he said. The facility has also been designed with sustainability at the core of its operations and has been awarded LEED Gold certification. Dior's supply chain and logistics teams are implementing a range of initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of operations, including optimising transportation flows, eliminating single-use plastics from packaging and increasing the use of sea freight whenever possible. Dubai South said the new distribution centre reinforces its role in supporting global brands through advanced logistics infrastructure and sustainable supply chain solutions.

Why the Met’s John Galliano reversal shocked the fashion world: ‘There hadn’t been this much excitement since camp’

Why the Met’s John Galliano reversal shocked the fashion world: ‘There hadn’t been this much excitement since camp’

Despite Anna Wintour’s years-long redemption campaign on his behalf, the Dior designer’s controversial past got him booted as the 2027 Met Gala honoree When the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced it was dedicating its 2027 costume exhibition to designer John Galliano, vintage dealer Johnny Valencia figured it would be a red carpet for the ages. Celebrities would show up in full Marie Antoinette drag, or squeeze into tightly bound corsets showcasing hourglass figures, recreating the pageantry of Galliano’s over-the-top runway shows. “There was a lot of excitement around this theme,” said Valencia, whose customers include the likes of Beyoncé and Rihanna. “There had not been this much excitement since camp” – the institution’s fete of outrageous and questionable taste in 2019.
